Columbia County, OR – The 36th Annual My Fair Lady and Gentleman Pageant, hosted by United Way of Columbia County at the Columbia County Fairgrounds, concluded with a heartwarming celebration of service, spirit, and community leadership. This year’s crown was awarded to Sharon Jump of Rainier, who was recognized for her outstanding dedication to volunteerism and deep-rooted love for her community.
Sharon, a lifelong Rainier resident, is known for her daily service at the Rainier Senior Center where she not only helps serve meals but also spreads joy through countless acts of kindness—whether it’s caring for neighbors’ pets, watering gardens, or simply showing up with a helping hand. Sharon was escorted on stage by her extra special bonus grandson, Aiden!
“This pageant is about celebrating the volunteers who make our communities stronger every single day,” said Claire Catt, Executive Director of United Way of Columbia County. “Sharon exemplifies the selfless spirit and compassion we cherish in Columbia County.”
Contestants from Scappoose, St. Helens, Clatskanie, and Rainier participated, answering a series of thoughtful questions about their experiences, passions, and perspectives on community service. Contestants were judged on poise, volunteer commitment, and interview responses. The 2024 reigning Queen, Karin of Vernonia, returned to crown Sharon and shared heartfelt reflections on her own year of service.
The event was emceed by Columbia County Commissioners Margaret Magruder and former Commissioner Henry Heimuller, and made possible by generous support from the Columbia County Fair Board, Avamere, Teevin Bros., Oregon Community Foundation, and the Columbia County Commissioners.
