Know the United Way story. United Way was established in 1964 to carry out one fund drive to fund locally necessary social services. One gift using payroll deduction gives all year long to help meet community needs. Know who we support. Giving to United Way helps support 33 individual programs provided by community partners. There are four focus areas of program funding. Why give to United Way? The United Way campaign is the most cost effective way to support the crucial services provided by Community Partners serving the residents of Columbia County. A payroll deduction gives all year long. How does United Way help? Through a gift to United Way you help support services county wide to people right here in your community. Funds raised here stay here. Who determines how my gift is spent? Local volunteers from the United Way Board carefully review Community Partner applications and services, determine these services to be critical to our community's health and safety, and are helping make a difference in people's lives. These are individuals who care about our community and are committed to making it a better place to live and raise a family.
